Looking Back & Looking Ahead

I always get a little philosophical at this time year, when the previous year is about to draw to a close and the new one looms a little over six hours in the distance.  I think back on my plans for the year and wonder how I can make the next year even better.

I’ve been a published author since November 2011.  In that time, I’ve written 26 books in six different series, brought hundreds of characters to life, and published more than 1,000,000 words.  I can’t believe that I’m still doing this, because it’s like a dream come true every day I sit down and start writing.  I always wanted to be a writer, but like that old saying “A dream without a goal is just a wish,”  I knew I needed to take action, so I did.  I sat across from my husband at dinner in December 2010 and told him I wanted to publish a book.  He looked at me like I had lobsters growing out my ears, but said I should do whatever made me happy.  Here I am, three years later, a USA Today best selling author with fans and readers all across the globe.  I never imagined when I first published A Curve of Claw that anyone would want to read my books, let alone that I would make a best seller list with a book about two mountain lions and their albino panther mate.

2014 was an incredible year.

*Marking Melody showed that female mountain lions can love.

*Alpha Acksel (The Alpha’s Heart) got his head on straight.

*Bad-Girl Lindy found her truemate in a wolf/fairy (The Wolf’s Mate Book 7).

*A Slash of Savagery proved that even 1,000 year old vampires need love, too.

*I never knew the word carrot was so hilarious (The Protector’s Heart)

*Rue (Ashland Pride 4) became my most difficult and endearing character.  Her amazing story made it to the USA Today Best Seller list!

For the coming year, I hope to publish at least seven books.  While I don’t have firm publication dates in mind for these releases, I hope you’ll be happy with the list of upcoming titles.  Some of these books have been a long time coming, I know!!

I wouldn’t be anywhere without some amazing people by my side.  To my faithful beta readers – Jackie, Joyce, Shelley, and Mandy – thank you from the bottom of my heart.  To my editors – Alexis at Word Vagabond and Jennifer Moorman – thank you for guiding me!  And to my awesome and talented cover designers – Valerie Tibbs and Ramona Lockwood – thank you for making such wonderful covers from my crazy plots!  To the Wild Shifter Babes Street Team – your support means the world to me! To my readers, fans, and friends – I hope you’ve enjoyed the past year with me and I can’t wait to see what the new year brings – thank you!!

I’m looking forward to seeing what 2015 has in store.  I wish you all an amazing, happy, healthy, and safe new year.  Hugs, RE

  7. Ms. Butler-
Wilde Creek series I just discovered and love it. I was wondering though if you planned on doing a story about Mia, Brynn’s bff? I’m getting ready to start book 3 so I just was curious if it was in the plans at some point cause I just love her! 🙂

    1. Hi Monica! I’m so glad you like the Wilde Creek series! Yes, Mia will be getting a story of her own as will several other characters. I’m not sure when her book will happen, but it won’t be this year – the next one out (Book 5) will be Kammie’s story. But someday Mia will get her HEA! Best, RE

  8. Doing a re-read of the Were-Wiccan series and just discovered that Awaken The Wolf has not been added on the series list at FictFact.com. you might want to contact them and ask them to update your list for that series.
