Two Year Annivesary Giveaway!

I can’t believe that it’s been two years since I published my first book, A Curve of Claw, and took the plunge into self-publishing. I remember sitting across the table from my husband at a local restaurant and telling him that I thought I’d like to publish a book. My husband, who is no lover of fantasy anything, arched his brow and asked what the book would be about. “Werewolves,” I said, thinking about Jason and Cadence’s book, “falling in love and all that good stuff.” He snorted and said, “Well, have fun.” And I did!

From the first line of A Curve of Claw to my most recent release, A Promise on White Wings, I’ve written nineteen books spanning five series with over 900,000 words written! I’ve come a long way since I first published, and I wouldn’t be anywhere without my fans and the amazing friends I’ve made along the way. Without your support, I wouldn’t have kept writing and publishing, pushing myself to write better and faster, to dedicate myself to writing. So to you, my fans and my friends, I humbly say thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

**Some fun tidbits**

  • A Curve of Claw was published on November 12, 2011. My first fan email came on November 14, just two short days later!
  • I save every fan email and message, and have printed out many of them and keep them on my desk.
  • My eyes are hazel, but I always wished they were green (my favorite color), which is why Elizabeth and Cadence both have green eyes. Callie, though, has hazel eyes, and so does Bo.
  • I didn’t know that Allen, Kentucky was a real place until a fan told me. To this day, I don’t know where the name “Allen” came from in my mind, but the town itself is patterned after a small town in Northern Ohio.
  • I can play the piano and I love to sing. Music makes it’s way into a lot of my books because I love it so much. And although I don’t listen to music while I write, I do watch youtube videos and listen to the radio for inspiration.
  • I buy a Pandora charm every time I publish a book. For Logan’s book, I bought a fairy. For Every Dawn Forever, a heart. For Lachyln’s book, a peridot charm for the month’s birthstone. For Jes’ book, a book of fairy tales.
  • The hardest book to write: Callie’s. Ending the friendship between her and Cades was like a knife in my heart. Although it was organic to the storyline, it still made me sad.
  • The book I had the most fun writing: Michael’s. All his funny quips and one-liners really made it a funny book to write.
  • The book with the most research: The Tribe’s Bride. I learned more than I ever wanted to about living in the wild, from tanning animal hides to making salt.
  • Upcoming book I’m most excited about: Melody’s (Marking Melody, Ashland Pride #3). I finally explore why the female lions are the way they are and reconnect with some ghosts from the Pride’s past.

Because it’s my anniversary, I wanted to do something special on the blog, and what better way to say thank you, than to do a giveaway! Beginning today, November 11, enter the rafflecopter giveaway by answering the question – simply comment below on my blog and be sure to log into the rafflecopter with your email and follow the instructions to be entered. 1. My favorite is a wolf shifter. I love wolves in general and I think it would be awesome to be able to turn into one.

    1. I HAVE TO SAY I STARTED WITH A CURVE OF CLAW, SO THE BEARS ARE MY FAV. I HAVE BEEN HOOKED EVER SINCE. THANK YOU

    1. I think wolves are going to be the most popular, Nikki…there are some really sexy wolf shifters out there! 🙂

  2. Happy Second Anniversary! Love your books, so glad you decided to take the plunge, love them all 😀
Its a hard choice to make but i would have to say my favorite type of shifter is hyena.

    1. Thank you so much, sweetie! I like being able to take hyenas, that are traditionally the bad guy, and making them into heroes. Plus, they’re pretty cool looking animals!

    1. Michelle, it’s really hard to choose just one, too, because I like all of them in one way or another. 🙂

  3. My favorite shifter would be wolves. I love how they’re always represented as wonderful and alpha and they mate for life 🙂

  4. My favorite shifter would be a wolf. I have an obsession with wolves, always have. Congrats on your second anniversary!! Thanks for the giveaway!!

    1. Kim, even before I started writing I loved wolves, too. I have several statues of them around the house and on my desk, they’re so beautiful. Thanks so much and good luck!

  5. My favorite is also a wolf shifter, I studied a little about the history behind them (not them shifting but the wolves it self) and think they are the most beautiful and spiritual animals around. IMO…
Congratulations on your successful two years and for our sake as your fans we wish you many more years to come.

    1. Jennifer, I’m so glad! The hyenas kind of snuck up on me as heroes, but I’m glad I “discovered” them in Michael’s book. 🙂

    1. LOL, Stacy! Every time I think I could pick a favorite, I remember others that I like, too. It is hard to pick, because I like so many! 🙂

  6. Definitely lions. I’m a cat-lover and think having a big head in your lap to stroke would be amazing.

    1. Big cats are certainly popular, I love there are so many varieties to choose from, too! Thanks!

    1. Jaguar keeps getting mentioned, Suleika, I think I’m going to have to keep them in mind for a book series!

  7. Also happy anniversary! I have loved each of your books and look forward to reading more. God Bless

  8. Congrats on 2 years!

My favorite type of shifter is whatever I am reading at the time. I know it sounds like a cop-out. I have wolves, big cats, hyenas, gargoyles, dragons, raptors, and those that can shift into other critters. I truly like to read any type of shifter story.

    1. I understand, Tiana! I definitely go through spells in my reading where I only want to read one type of shifter and not others! Gargoyles, dragons and raptors – oh my! 🙂

  9. Congratulations on your two year anniversary! My favorite shifter is the wolf. Thanks for the great giveaway.

  10. Congrats on your anniversary. Asking me to choose my favorite shifter is like asking a Mother who her favorite child is. I love them all but to narrow it down I would say wolves, big cats and dragons. Thanks for the giveaway.

  11. I am also partial to the wolf shifter. But I have enjoyed the other types of shifters in your books.

  12. Congratulations! I’d have to say, wolf and bear shifters are my favorite! I love to read about theses guys, thanks to you! (Love the Wolf’s Mate and Wiccan-Were-Bear series!)

  13. Happy 2nd Anniversary :0) I’m so glad you took the plunge as I love your books & am always so excited to read the next :0) Cop out or not I love all shifter stories ;0)

  14. Happy Aniversary! I would have to say that my favorite shifters are wolves (But your hyena series comes in a close second). Those seem to be the types of shifter stories I am drawn to first. 🙂

  15. I like them all but I guess I would say Wolves & Bears. Congrats on two years, can’t wait for Marking Melody

  16. Grats on 2 years! My fav. type of shifter would either be a dragon shifter or some kind of large cat! Thank you and Happy Holidays!

    1. Oooh Dragons, they’re definitely on my to-write list! Thanks and happy holidays to you, too!

  17. I love wolves but I also love big cats and bears too. congrats on your anniversary and thanks for the giveaway

  18. Happy Anniversary!
My favorite shifter is probably Wolf. But, I’ve read so many shifter stories, and I love almost all of them!!

  19. My favorites are the mountain lion pride. I fell in love with them in Callie’s book. They are strong, yet sweet, and vulnerable. Awesome combo!

  20. Happy Anniversary. I have not read any of your books but I know that one of my favorite shifters is a wolf. I haven’t read any other books about any other kind of shifters!!!

  21. I have read all your books & love them. I’d have to say wolves are my favorite shifter but I love so much about each shifter. I’m excited for book about Melody.

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by, Lisa! I’m so glad to have you as a fan. Melody’s book will be out in January so stayed tuned to the blog. Good luck!

  22. First off congratulations on your two year anniversary! I love wolf shifters but since reading your books I also love bear and cat shifters as well, but since your Ashland pride series I have to say those cats stole my heart! So I will say cat shifters.

  23. Congratulations on you two year anniversary that is amazing I love wolves most of all and then cat’s I love your books so much and I’m so excited to see what comes next from you Thank you for the awesome chance.

  24. OMG! Happy Anniversary, R.E.
I find all shifters fascinating, but I’m partial to your mountain lion males. Close second? Hyenas. Who’d think you could make lovable shifters out of these nasty predators? So glad you did!

    1. Thanks so much, Judy! I’m glad that I was able to make the hyenas into heroes and I definitely love my lions, too.

  25. Congrats on your anniversary, I’m a huge fan. I love all weres but I have to choose I’d go with the bears. So big! Mmmmmmm

  26. I would have to say that the Lions are my favorite shifter even though I love all of your books. Can’t wait for more to come out 🙂

  27. Happy Anniversary!!! I am partial to wolves. I’ve been collecting them for years. I do like all your books though! Looking forward to many more books in the years to come.

    1. Neat, Kim! I collect all sorts of animal statuary, but I don’t have a lion yet (wolves and bears and a few others), I’ll need to get one for inspiration!

  28. First Micheal’s story was one of my favorite as well! Also Happy 2 year anniversary! So my answer is wolves, the sexy alphas and loyalty from the pack just gives me the gooses!

  29. I have always had a great love for wolves, so really enjoy stories involving them. I do enjoy some of the cats but wolves will always be a favorite.

  30. Have a very Happy Anniversary you have worked so hard to entertain all of your fans. I really like Wolf, Cats and Bears it is very hard to say one.

  31. It’s really hard for me to choose a single favorite type of shifter. In life, I’m an avid dog lover, so it would seem natural to love wolves best, but I really love the large cat shifters, the panthers, jaguars, and other extremely large kitties. I thought about mentioning dragons as a favorite, and I do like them, but if I wanted to cuddle with them in animal form, I’m miss the fur of the other animals, though the elevated body heat would be nice. Bears are cool, but again, the cats are just sexier looking. They have that sexy, predatory walk, that slinky way of stalking, all those things going for them that other types of shifters simply can’t bring to the competition. So, I guess I’m a cat shifter fan, pure and simple. Thanks for a fabulous giveaway. michelle_willms(at)yahoo(dot)com

  32. Congrats wow two years already I love all you’re books I love all types of shifters but I have a weakness for feline shifters am even getting a feline tattoo soon 😉

    1. Neat, Jessica! I have a tiger tattoo, so I’ve loved big cats for a long time! Thanks so much!

  33. Its hard to say which shiftier animal I like most, I like Bears and the Cats equally followed by the hyenas then the wolfs. And Congratulation on two wonderful years of your writing adventure.

  34. Im going to have to say Wolf 😉 Even tho I have read a few really good bear shifter stories. Wolf still wins!
    Congrats:)

  35. Happy Anniversary!!! I love all of the books you have written each series is so unique and full of interesting qualities of each shifter. Keep up the great work!!!

  36. First off, congrats on your 2 year anniversary, your stories are always so amazing, always well written and lots of attention to detail. I’ve read almost all of your stories, and what I haven’t read yet is waiting for me in my kindle. Secondly, I do love all shifters, but my favorite shifter would have to be wolfs. They’re just loyal, protective, hot, and I’ve responded more to the wolf stories I’ve read opposed to other shifter stories. Love your stories R.E., can’t wait to read more 🙂

  37. Congratulations on your 2 year anniversary. I love those werewolves. Then the big cats.

  38. Congratulations on your 2 year anniversary. I absolutely love all of your books. My husband past away 3 years ago and my therapy was reading books. So thank you for helping me with my therapy! You are an inspiration to anyone who wants to start writing a book. I adore all shifter books and have read all of yours.

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by, Kat. I’m so sorry for your loss, but very glad that you were able to find peace within my stories and others. Good luck in the contest and take care! Hugs, RE

  39. I forgot to add that my favorite shifters are the Lions. I love that the men are so loving and caring.

  40. I am pretty much a fan of all of the shifters, but if I have to choose one I do gravitate towards the wolf as well. Thank you so much for letting us celebrate this awesome milestone with you. Congratulations on the two years and may the next year bring you continued joy and success in all your endeavors 🙂

  41. I love your ebooks. I started reading starting with your first book and have enjoyed every single one. My favorite shifters are the lions, because they are so protective and sensitive and loving.

  42. Congratulations! My favorite shifter is the lion. I love cats, so it makes sense.

    1. I’m definitely a cat person, too, although I don’t have one right now and have two dogs instead! 🙂

  43. My favorite shifter is the wolf. Congratulations on your second anniversary. And may you be around many more years.

  44. Congratulations on your two year anniversary! My favorite type of shifter is bear, but I also love dragons and tigers.

  45. CONGRATULATIONS on your second anniversary of self publishing! I found it REALLY interesting, and sweet, that you know the exact date of your first fan letter & that you print out & feature them in your work space. That’s just really cool! As far as my favorite type of shapeshifter? I’d have to say wolf – which probably explains a lot about why I’m so partial to dogs LOL!

    1. Thanks so much! I cherish all my fan mail, whether it’s a comment on FB or the blog or an actual email. I’m happy I was able to share that tidbit on the blog. Thanks so much for stopping by and good luck!!

  46. I cannot make up my mind which I prefer – it really depends on the author. Some have really great wolves while others I can’t stand. In general, I like ALL types of shifters. I mean, how cool would it be to be able to shift into ANY kind of animal? Even a snake would be cool! And yes, I did grow up with pet hog-nosed snakes. 😉

Congrats on your anniversary! If I could write, I’d keep track of the anniversaries as well.

    1. Good point, Shauntih! I enjoy writing about shifters because it really is neat to think about what it would be like to be able to shift. Thanks so much for stopping by and good luck!

  47. Congratulations … I love all types of shifters…if I had to pick one it would be wolves,I am an avid reader of paranormals and there are so many varieties of shifters now, your books got me hooked on Bear shifters !! Thank you for writing the books you do…….

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by and your sweet compliment, Ruth! I’m glad I got you hooked on bears! Good luck in the contest!

  48. congrats on two years. i love your books. as for my favoite type of shifter, it has to be cats. black panthers really, followed by bears

  49. First congrats!!!!!!!! On to answering the question,I would have to say in this order wolves are my utmost favorites then those lovable lions, but I really can’t leave out those bears, tigers, and falcons I’ve come to care about through you. The hyenas are growing on me and really want them to see their hea to.

  50. Congrats on your second anniversary! I think my favorite shifter is the wolves, but the lions are a very close second. I love all your books and have to say my favorite is still Callie’s story. I think it’s because of the heartbreak of her long time friendship with Cadence and her becoming her own strong person because of the love of two great guys. Can’t wait to read the next Ashland book and looking forward to the next Hyena and Wolf stories….don’t stop writing, I want to be commenting on your third anniversary as well! 😉

  51. Happy two year anniversary! Love all your books.my favorite shifters are wolves but I love all of the shifters you write about.

  52. It is so hard just to pick one. It would be 1st bears then 2nd would between lions and wolves. Over all I love everything you write. Never stop

  53. Congrats on your anniversary! Normally my favorite shifter would be a tie between a wolf, and cat ( tiger, lion, or jaguar) but after your last book jesuit’s falcon sounded so amazing because he could fly and it would be amazing to do that.

    1. Aw, Laurie, thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed Jes’ story, I think being able to fly would be pretty darn cool, too!

  54. way to go on two years. each type of shifter has a special place in my heart. I have to say I love them all!!!!!!!!!!!

  55. Happy 2nd anniversary! I love all your books, have reread them many times. I would have to say that the big cats are my favorite. I love the way the Ashland pride is all about family, no matter who they came from. Keep up the great work, as I am eagerly awaiting the next book. Please let it be longer then A Promise on white wings though, that was a small disappointment.

  56. Happy Anniversary!
My favorite shifter is well all of them!
Hard to pick. Love all your books . Can’t wait for more! Need more!!!!!!!!

    1. Great answer, Melissa! Thanks so much for your kind words, I’m writing as fast as I can, LOL! Good luck!

  57. Happy Anniversary! Wow 2 years and 19 books ~ That’s Awesome!!!

My favorite shifter…a lynx. They are the most beautiful animal. They are snow cats with big feet, awesome fur and beautiful eyes. I adore big cats. Our house cat looks like a miniature black panther and he weighs 25 pounds. He could use the big feet of a lynx, believe me!

My second choice would be gargoyles. I read a series by Vickie Taylor that was shifter gargoyles and it fed my fantasies. Thanks for the giveaway 🙂

    1. Very cool! I’ve read gargoyle stories as well, they’re definitely neat and maybe someday I’ll write about them! Good luck in the contest!

  58. Have to admit that I’m partial to wolves but being a Leo Ive a thing for the lions and am hoping to see tigers crop up in the future!

    1. Hi Brit! The tigers are going to get their own series in the future, so stay tuned! Good luck!

    1. They were my “first” shifter love, so they’ll always hold a special place in my heart. 🙂

  59. Oh R.E. you know your my absolute favorite author and all your stories are amazing. I love them all, but if I have to choose just one ( which is sooo hard.. ) I think it would have to be the mountian lions I have a soft spot for those sweet, kind, loving men. Thank you for sharing your wonderful mind with us through your stories. Jenny xoxo. 🙂

  60. Happy Two Year Anniversary! Love your series you are truly an amazing writer.
My favorite shifters are dragon and wolf. I’d love for you to do a dragon series. 🙂

  61. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! The big cats are my fav. Black panther, lion and tiger. Can you imagine what a black panther could get away with at night. Rowr! Your sweet mountain lions really make me smile. Thank you for sharing your amazing stories with us. -Shelley

    1. Shelley, thank you so much for stopping by. Black panthers – they’d be really stealthy and naughty, I think!

  62. Happy anniversary!! My favorite shifters are wolf. They are so powerful and beautiful and give off such strength and power. HOWEVER—I love the were-bears too!

  63. Happy Anniversary! I can’t believe its already been two years! I love all of your characters, but my favorite of all are the wolves!

  64. Happy Anniversary!!! I just have to say YOU ROCK!!! I love all animals but wolves have my heart!!!

  65. Happy Anniversary!!! <33 my favorite type of shifter…i think would be tiger shifters…idk i loooove wolves but there is something about a tigers roar.

  66. I love reading shifter romances but I’m not sure that I could choose a favorite. I have wolves, tigers, jaguars, coyotes, hyenas, dragons, and others. I love them all!

  67. There are so many choices in types of shifters!! I do love the wolves, but I think my favourites are the big cats & bears.

Congrats on the 2 years. Wow, time flies so quickly. Please, please keep up the good work, love your books.

    1. Thanks so much, Simone! It has gone by quickly! I’m so glad to have you as a fan. Good luck in the contest!

  68. Happy two year anniversary-I am very glad for this because if you hadn’t started writing I would never have been able to read your books-my favorite being the wiccan were bear series (A Curve of Claw being my favorite overall). To answer the question, I absolutely love almost all shifters but my favorite would have to be wolf shifters. They specifically are my favorite because out of all the shifter books that I have read I love that fact that a wolf mates for life (in some of the steamier ones I have read the male (usually the wolf in the relationship) happens upon the woman’s scent and instantly knows that is their mate-my favorites of the shifter novels have that sort of theme and I love it!).

    1. Thanks, Krista! You’re so sweet! You know, I really love the mate-scent, too. I think there’s just something really neat with a wolf immediately knowing that a person is his perfect mate, regardless of what she looks like. Powerful! And so much fun to write! Hugs, RE

  69. I love all shiftertype, but my most favorite type is a type you did not write a book over and that are te dragonshifters. My favorite bookserie from you are is the Hyena heat. I also what tot wish you a happy anniversary.

    1. Jolanda, I am hearing a lot in comments about dragons. I’ve added them to my to-write list, but I also love to read about them, too, so I’m looking forward to making a world for them to live in of my own! Thanks so much for stopping by and good luck!

  70. I tried to leave a comment on the International Rafflecopter giveaway but it did not worked.»I love all shifters but my favorite is the wolf. I am almost done reading Lachyln’s book and I already am wondering when Melody’s book will be published. Happy two year anniversary!

    1. I hope you’re able to enter the contest, Dominique! Thanks so much for the good wishes. Melody’s book should be out in January, I haven’t decided on a publication date yet. 🙂

  71. I love the Bear shifters but my favorite is the wolf. I have read everything you’ve written and would like to encourage you to please write faster. Happy two year anniversary.

  72. I personally love all the shifters but I’d say I’m partial to the wolves. There is something about them that captures my inner interest. The whole pack life which resembles the strong concept of family, protection and unity that most people wish for in their own lives me included. So I find a comfort when I read there stories and fall into the very world of a wolf shifter. Happy Anniversary…looking forward to more years of your writing.

    1. Thank you so much for your amazing, thoughtful comment, Angelita! I love what you said and it’s one of the reasons that I enjoy writing about wolves. I love the idea of the pack, too. Thanks so much for your good wishes. Hugs, RE

  73. Congratulations, 2 years. I love all shifters, but my favorite of the shifters would have to be bears. They are big and cuddly. Love bears.

  74. Congrats I love all ur books I have all of them and reread the so much I can pretty much nail and know where every line is from ur a fantastic writer keep up the great work and don’t stop writing ur wonderful books so excited about the next hyena book

    1. Thanks so much, Ann! That’s the most amazing compliment! I’m so happy to have you as a fan. I’m working on Whisper’s book in between others as well, and hopefully will have it out over the summer. Thanks for stopping by, you’re amazing! Hugs, RE

  75. My favourite type of shifter hmmmm now that’s a hard question to answer because I have 5 favourite types lol male mountain lions, bunnies (eve langlais), wolves , bears and eagles 🙂

  76. I think it depends on whose writing it. I have read about some amazing tiger, bear, lynx, fox, wolf, hawk, eagle, falcon, heck, even ferret shifters! I think if the author has done the story well and written credible characters we don’t care what they turn into as much as if they turn us on!

  77. After reading all of your books and if it is out of what you write, I would have to say the lions, I love how they are really strong but also very tender. They are so hard done by, by the female lions that your heart just goes out to all of them.

  78. My personal favorite shifter would have to be panthers. I love all the cats and then the wolves, but there is just something sexy and manly about the panthers.

    1. It’s hard to choose when they’re all so awesome! I waver between the different kinds myself. 😉

  79. Happy Anniversary!!! Wish you many, many more to come. You writing help me to cope with the stress of everyday life. Thank you for bringing so many characters to live and keep our imagination at work. Blessings and Congratulations again!!!!

    1. Karin, thank you so much for your sweet compliment! I really appreciate your support and I’m glad that my books have helped you! Big hugs, RE

  80. I’m partial to tigers (hmm…acctually to any of the big cats!) but wolves come in a close second, with bears and dragons as faves too! An occasional gargoyle is quite nice alo.

    1. Crystal, I agree! Unfortunately the contest is over, but it’s always great to hear from fans! Thanks for stopping by!
